What are BROWNFIELDS?
The term brownfield typically refers to land or property that is
abandoned or under with known or perceived environmental
contamination usually associated with past industrial or waste
disposal activities. Brownfields are real property, the
expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by
the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance,
pollutant, or contaminant. (Environmental Data Resources

Though some brownfields are old industrial sites, others are
commercial buildings with little or no environmental
contamination.
