This document has been updated by MNDM as of June, 2008. 07.21.08 SUBSIDIES FOR HIRING INTERNS -- Please see the following message from Stacy Barter of Canadian CED Network regarding the availability of funds to hire interns on six month contracts: The Canadian CED Network is pleased to announce the recent extension of CreateAction, its CED Work Experience Program. Deadline for host organizations to submit an application is Friday, August 1st at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. This program is funded by Service Canada. Its purpose is to give out-of-school post-graduate youth, who have a career focus in CED, a relevant six-month work experience placement. We are recruiting up to 20 community-based CED organizations to host work experience participants from September 8, 2008 - February 20, 2009 inclusively. For more information regarding this program and how your organization can apply to host a work experience participant, please visit http://www.ccednet-rcdec.ca/?q=en/our_work/youth/createaction, or contact Stacy Barter, CED Youth Programs Manager at (toll free) 1-877-202-2268. 07.17.08 The Ontario Chamber of Commerce and Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade have launched their Export Market Access Program. The Export Market Access Program is a cost-sharing program funded by the Ontario Government that will assist small and medium-sized firms in Ontario to expand into new export markets. In the 2008 budget, the Ontario government announced $5 million in funding to the Ontario Chamber of Commerce for a Global Expansion Program to help SMEs. The assistance is available in four areas: 1. Direct Contacts - international trade shows, fairs, exhibitions, and incoming and outgoing trade missions. 2. Marketing Tools - development of electronic media, promotional materials, and generic branding material 3. Market Research; and 4. Foreign Bidding Projects Eligible applicants are small and medium-sized enterprises whose goods and service are produced in Ontario, with a minimum of 5 employees to a maximum of 500 employees. Firms should have annual sales of $500,000 or more. Funding contributions will generally range from $5,000 to $35,000.
